The next meeting is on Thursday 25th April and will be the President's Competition. The subjects are Movement and Something beginning with A.
Chris Wood from Southport P S has kindly agreed to be the judge for the evening. Chris is a very accomplished photographer and we can look forward to an interesting evening.
There was a last minute change to the meeting on Thursday 18th April. The weather was awful and so the Observational Treasure Hunt was cancelled. Instead we viewed some of the accepted images from the 2023 Dingwall National Exhibition. It gave members an insight into the national standard of photography. We saw some excellent images from a wide variety of genres including mono, landscapes and nature.
Richard O'Brien joined us via zoom on Thursday 11th April. Richard's photography covers a variety of genres, but on Thursday his presentation was entitled 'Architecture....Exposure to Edit'.
Richard presented us with some excellent architectural images from a variety of locations.
Later, in the second half, he treated us to a master class in the use of Lightroom and explained how he had started with the images out of camera, and then edited them to produce the images he had presented to us in the first half of the evening. A very interesting evening.
Our Own member, Henry Mullarkey Hon L&CPU, was our guest on Thursday 4th April.
Henry is passionate about Audio Visual presentations and has worked in this branch of photography for many years. His presentation included some of his own work and some borrowed from colleagues. Henry explained how the genre ranged from holiday photos set to music to those that told serious or amusing stories. It was a very entertaining evening.
We held another competition night at the hut on Thursday 28th March. The titles were OPEN 5 and Animals. Steve Highton EPAGB, AFIAP, BPE5* was our judge. He gave every image due consideration and offered some useful critique. Congratulations to the award winners and special congratulations to those members who were perhaps gaining an award for the first time.
This was our last competition of the season apart from the President's Competitions, the titles for which are 'Movement' and 'Something beginning with A'.
Our AGM was held on Thursday 4th May at 7.45 pm and we were pleased to welcome so many members to the Hut. It was our second best attendance of the season. Thank you to all those who made the effort to attend.
We cannot let this update pass, without thanking Henry Mullarkey for his sterling work as club treasurer, a post he has held for many years. Ian Shard has kindly agreed to take on the role as treasurer and we wish him every success as he takes over from Henry.
Please check the list of officials for other slight changes that were made during the AGM.
The AGM was followed by the Presentation of Awards. Congratulations to all and especially to our newer members who gained awards.

At the AGM 2014 it was agreed that any image entered into a club competition would automatically be available for the club to use in external competitions. In some extreme cases a member can withdraw an image from LCPU competitions.
